Born in Flanders (Belgium) in 1969, Carll Cneut took courses in graphic design at the Institute of Fine Arts of St. Luke in Ghent where he still lives. After graduation, Carll first worked in the advertising world as artistic director. He then made his debut as an illustrator by participating in various publications for youth.

Carll uses acrylic paint that he works in several layers ranging from darker to lighter. He also likes to experiment; each book reveals a new material: ink for Zoe; coffee for Rougejaunenoireblanche; or chemicals for A secret for growing…
