The rich hours of Jacominus Gainsborough

In twelve genre scenes crossed by the seasons, Rebecca Dautremer traces in The rich hours Jacominus Gainsborough (Sarbacane editions) the story of a life. Its little things, its great moments, joys, sorrows, doubts, hardships … And for the first time, the artist seizes the subject by painting humanized animals. This exhibition brings together a selection of gouache and drawings made for the original book, seven very large formats, and objects created by the artist, and drawings from the next opus Midi Pile and Une toute petite seconde.
